About artist

The Birthday Massacre is a Canadian rock band from Toronto, founded in 1999 and gaining cult status at the intersection of synth-rock, darkwave, and post-punk. Originally called Imagica, the band changed its name in 2002, taking the title of one of its early songs.
The band's signature style is a combination of dark, gothic aesthetics and fairytale-like, almost childlike motifs, reflected in their name and the consistent use of purple in their artwork. TBM's sound is built on the contrast between lead singer Chibi's soft vocals and heavy guitar riffs with atmospheric 80s-style electronic backing.
The band has released ten full-length studio albums. Their latest, "Pathways," was released in April 2025 and showcased a more introspective and atmospheric sound compared to their previous release, "Fascination" (2022). Some of the band's most famous hits include "Red Stars," "Blue," "Happy Birthday," and "Kill the Lights."
